Dreamland Sports Plus donates towards funeral of late NSA Deputy DG Saka Acquaye

Dreamland Sports Plus, a sports events management and marketing company has on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the family of the late Daniel Saka Acquaye aka ‘Fishey’, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus, Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams who doubles as Youth Coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) said the late Saka Acquaye was a real friend of sports who was ready to support all disciplines.

He recalled that Saka Acquaye was instrumental in their organization of traditional sports like Ampe, Tug of War and some community sports competitions.

He expressed that Ghana has lost a great sportsman, coach and administrator who was passionate with his job.

Sarah Awini, General Manager of Dreamland Sports said she remembers the slogan, “Team Ghana – Ahoia” which was initiated by the late former top swimmer and handball star.

The sports company presented Puma Energy Drinks, Awake Mineral Water and an undisclosed amount as their contribution towards the funeral which has been fixed for this weekend at Kaneshie near Dans Bar.

Miss Benedicta Abbey, Marketing Manager of Dreamland Sports Plus hinted that they want the ban on contact sports to be lifted as they are coming up with exciting entertainment and sports events in some regional capitals.

Present at the visit were some media reps; Sammy Heywood Okine of the GOC / African Sports Media, Romeo Oduro of UTV, Theo Sampa of GTV, Johnny Quartey of Metro TV and Enoch of TV Africa.

Sammy Heywood Okine, the seasoned sports journalist described the late Saka Acquaye as very meticulous and always present to represent the NSA or Ministry of Youth & Sports at sports functions.

Mr. Adolf Ankrah on behalf of the family thanked Dreamland Sports Plus and the media for their support.

He appealed to the government and companies to invest in sports to allow more people to love and participate in sports.

He noted that the late Saka Acquaye has mentored many youth to go into sports, and now most are serving with the security services.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Women Sports Association of Ghana (WOSPAG) have sent messages of condolence to the family.

Mr. Saka Acquaye, 58 who passed away on 24^th June, 2020 will be buried on Saturday, September 12 at the Mantse Ankrah Royal Mausoleum at Kaneshie, in Accra.
